Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan Jamie “Jay-May” Mayberry has written and performed rap music since his early years. He has released 7 solo projects, 2 group projects, 10 singles and a host of videos throughout his music career. He is known and often called upon to create custom songs for companies, faith-based organizations, families and individuals. He writes to capture the essence of a topic while making an inspiring song for the listener.

On his  6th studio album “Affirmations” this project serves as a motivational and self-help tool with tracks that delve into topics such as mindset, goal setting and mental health. It has guest appearances from Canon, J-Nice the Kingdom Builder, Jordan Lucio and many others. On his project “Life, Love and Relationships” he opens the curtains to take people on a journey through the highs and lows of his life. His previous release “For His Glory” featured the song and video “Light Shine” that played on TBN, UP TV and received radio airplay across the United States and Worldwide.

Jay-May served in the United States Army for 20 years. Throughout this time, he completed two deployments, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom III and Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He’s been stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Fort Riley, Kansas, Hohenfels, Germany, Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Hood, Texas and Detroit, Michigan as an Army Recruiter. It was the experience of serving as a Recruiter back in his home town that he fully enjoyed while helping others start their own Army career.

When he is not creating music Jay-May works in the IT field as a System Administrator. He’s earned a Master of Fine Arts in Media Design, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management, CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA A+ Certifications. He is also an aspiring actor that’s appeared in the movie “Friend Request” and “Friend Request 2”. He is married with two children and currently resides in Killeen, TX with his family.
